The Man's Quest
Being the antipodes of
theoretical and technical knowledge
acquired in our training, our approach is based on observation. It is
focused on an ever more intimate and true relationship with life in all its
forms.
This is
why, here and now, Henry and Cécile Natter are
pleased to involve you in the production (vineyard care) and the
transformation (wine making) of their Sancerre Blanc, Rouge and Rosé. They
invite you to enter their winemaker life, through the months and seasons, to
familiarize yourself with the different steps that give meaning to their
lives and to their identity as winemakers:
"A Man, A
Terroir, A Wine,
An Art of Living"

Story
of a domaine
In the heart of France, 2 hours from Paris, between the
Châteaux of the Loire (Chambord, Cheverny, Amboise …) and the St.
Etienne Cathedral in Bourges (XIIIth century,
recently classified a UNESCO World Heritage Site), Henry and Cécile Natter
married and decided to create their wine estate. They started with
about half a hectare (1.2 acres) of vines in the winemaking village of Montigny,
a village of the Appellation Contrôlée Sancerre (AOC Sancerre).
Due to their situation and distance, the vineyards of this
village had been abandoned following phylloxera and wars. They were in such a
state that weeds and brush ruled the hillsides. Starting in 1974, the couple
dedicated all of their energy and conscience to the task of bring vineyards back
to several slopes and to organize, build and create the Domaine (estate)
you see today: over 20 planted hectares (approximately 50 acres) of vineyards
producing wine sold in France and around the world for your enjoyment.
