History of the Estate

In the heart of France, 2 hours from Paris between the Châteaux of the Loire (Chambord, Cheverny, Amboise...) and the Cathedral of Bourges (XIIIth century UNESCO World Heritage Site), Henry and Cécile Natter married and set about to create their wine estate. They began with about half a hectare (1.2 acres) of vines in Montigny, a little village in the Sancerre Appellation Contrôlée (Sancerre AOC).

Due to their situation and distance, the vineyards of this village had been abandoned following phylloxera and wars and were such a state that weeds and brush covered the hillsides. Starting in 1974, the couple dedicated all of their blood, sweat and tears to the task of bringing vineyards back to some of the slopes and to organize, build and create the Domaine (estate) you see today: over 20 hectares (about 50 acres) of vineyards producing wine sold in France and around the world for your enjoyment.
